Hi, I would like to inquire about a company which is based on Bosnia and Herzegovina, who invite me for a job interview here in Upwork. I have accepted the invitation and the person who is looking for freelancers told me to add their data entry administrator on facebook as he will be the one to do the interview. I added the said person on Facebook, he interviewed me through chat, and then he told me that I needed to pay 35euros for the process of work permit. That day of the interview, Upwork emailed me that the same posted job from that company where I was invited, was removed in Upwork because of it's incompliant with Upwork user agreement. But since we have communication on Facebook, I still paid for it and then another day passed, he said that the laws have just changed recently so I needed to pay another amount of 38euros to complete the process of having a work permit. I asked him about the email that I received from Upwork, he said that they had just some technical problems but now it's already fixed, so I paid the 38euros. Another day passed, he said that they already have my work permit but I still need to send 170euros for the depositing law but it is refundable. He said that after 30minutes I send the 170euros, it will come back to me again. I haven't paid the 170euros right now, because I do not know if it is legit, and I told him that I will no longer continue it and just cancel my application. And now, he's offering me that he will now give the contract from Upwork, he said that it is my assurance for the 170euros that will be given back to me once I send it. Should I do it or I was already scammed? This is my first time in Upwork so I really don't know how this one works. Thank you for your response.

Stop - before you do Anything else on this site, yoiu need to know how to use it and what to look out for. Do Not apply or accept any jobs or interviews until you know the scams and procedures here. Spend a few days and in this forum, just search for scams. And read, read and read some more. When you're finished with that, they you need to read Upworks TOS so YOU know what not to do.
I was wondering there, when I read your post when were you going to stop paying this scammer. They kept asking for money and you just kept giving it to them.

I've been registered with **Edited for Community Guidelines** and Upwork.com since 5 months but till date, I've not received a job offer. Only scam emails and messages stating you have to pay to get the job.

Hi Rao,
Could you please click on my photo > select Messages button and share a job post related to the concern you're having? I'd like to confirm if the job has already been removed from Upwork but won't be able to share with you any information about the client's account.
Please review the safety tips we shared here and note that requesting payments from freelancers or offering to pay off-Upwork is a ToS violation that you should report by flagging the related job post, message in the message room or submitting a support request.
