Hi I am new to upwork.
I am a freelace software developer. I was wondering there is an upload section when i submit proposals.
What should I upload exactly? A project with relivent examples of my work? My CV? A video?
Thanks Linda.

Not required, optional, depends on the situation.
I don't recall if I ever upload something with the proposal.

Okay but im wondering if it would "help" my chances to get in touch with the client that way.

That's not easy to answer. Just browse this forum and you'll see most threads are about how to raise that "chances".
> Would it "help"
I'll say it's not.
But I now remember I once sent some screenshots along with the proposal to show some related things that weren't available on the web. So it's really situational in my opinion. No need to upload CV or "Project" in an introduction.

No need to upload anything. Just address the job and also talk about your skills and accomplishments.
