Hello, friends freelancers Smiley Happy

I just got my first job at Upwork and I was so excited that I finished it in 2 hours. My question is: When you have already sent your client the finished project files, should you click the SUBMIT YOUR WORK/REQUEST PAYMENT button, or it isn't necessary? Is submitting your work the same as ending your contract? I heard it's best for the freelancer to wait for the client to end the contract. Thanks and have a great day all!

Yep, submit through the button on your My Jobs page. The client has 14 days to approve or ask for revisions or the escrow is automatically released.

Dragana asked, 'Is submitting your work the same as ending your contract?'

They are completely different things. DO NOT end the contract until you're paid, or you will never get paid, and yes it's good to wait for the client to close the contract and leave you feedback, but some clients won't do so. Some clients will approve the milestone for you without being asked so it may not be necessary to submit the work, but you have every right to do so, since the client already received the files.
