Hi Upwork Gurus,
I just delivered my work to the client this morning after working for two weeks on this assignment. A few minutes later, I get the message from Upwork, that my contract with this client is suspended. What shall I do in this case? And how can I learn more about the details of this Upwork action? What can happen to suspend a contract so suddenly?
Thank you so much for your support.
All the best
Iman

Mostly that happens when there is a serious issue with the client's payment method.
Was it an hourly contract?
If yes, did you:
There is nothing you can do and Upwork will not discuss the case or the client's account with you.

Hi Petra,
Thank you for your reply,
Yes, I have worked on an hourly basis. However, I didn't work with the timetracker. In agreement with my client, I added my hours manually. I was all the time in communication with my client, so he was witnessing the process how I worked, and I delivered the updated status of the work every week.
All the best

You're out of luck in this one.
Manual time does not have Upwork Payment Protection.

In that case you are not protected, and if there was an issue with the client's payment method (payment failed / chargeback / unauthorised card etc etc etc) and the client does not resolve it you will not get paid.

Hi Iman,
There may many reasons for suspending a contract. The most common reason is the payment method verification of the client. If client's payment method is not verified or if the credit or debit card of the client has expired or something like that, then Upwork suspends the contract. So the best way for you is to contact Upwork support and they will tell you the exact reason behind the suspension and they will help you to resolve it.
Thanks
Sagar

Thank you Sagar for your reply, how can I reach out to Support? Is there a special service for top-rated freelancers?

@Sagar S wrote:. So the best way for you is to contact Upwork support and they will tell you the exact reason behind the suspension and they will help you to resolve it. It is completely pointless for her to contact support. The client needs to fix this.
This is not true. Support will ONLY tell her that there is an issue and that the client needs to resolve it.
Support will NOT "tell her the exact reason" and can NOT "help her resolve it" - They will already be trying to resolve it with the client!

Hi Iman,
There can be various reasons why the contract was suspended but we will not be able to share them here in the Community. It's important that you stop working on the suspended contract until the client resolves the issues and the contract is resumed. The client may still reply to your messages soon and clarify the issues.
