Switch back and forth from mobile view to regular site

When I work on my computer, I see a Mobile in the footer that allows me to switch the view to the mobile site. But I don't see a way to switch back to regular view. I have to hit the back button, or just use my bookmark. Not so much a problem, so no big deal.

 

But when I view the site on my iPad, the main site views as it does on my computer, until I click My Profile. Then it automatically switches to mobile view. I don't want that. Is there a way to prevent that from happening? Also, should there be a way, in the footer, to switch back to desktop view, if one is in mobile view, and vice versa? Most sites I have seen that have a mobile view allow the switch back and forth.

Just in case anyone has the same issue on an ipad, after more digging around, i found an answer. 

 

When i go to My Profile on the ipad, and it is showing in mobile view, i went to the three bars on the upper right and clicked. From this menu, i found Settings. Under Settings, was Desktop View. I clicked that and bam! There is the desktop view, back again.

Just in case anyone has the same issue on an ipad, after more digging around, i found an answer. 

 

When i go to My Profile on the ipad, and it is showing in mobile view, i went to the three bars on the upper right and clicked. From this menu, i found Settings. Under Settings, was Desktop View. I clicked that and bam! There is the desktop view, back again.

I've been irritated my the mobile view on the iPad for ... oh, ever!

Glad I helped! Funny thing is, when I first moved to Upwork and used my ipad, it didn't go to Mobile, then one day it just did it on it's own. Glad to know there is a way around it.

Hello, any ideas on how to switch to desktop site on Android?  The mobile site is awful and I need the desktop site but on Android, requesting it via the method you suggest does not work

Sorry to hear you are having issues with mobile site, Matt. We are working to improve it and make the site more responsive. You can switch from mobile view to desktop site by clicking on the menu in the upper right corner, going to Settings and selecting Desktop Site.

Does this happen even if you restart your mobile browser? Or log in and out of the site?

Yes. This always happen. Thats why I can monitor my payment status, etc on my android phone

In Safari on iPad:

  • long press and release the refresh arrow
  • tap the resulting popup: Request Desktop Site

This must be the very first thing you do when the window/tab opens. Otherwise, it will not work.

 

If the mobile page immediately reloads on its own, as sometimes happens, "request desktop site" will not work; you must close and reopen the window/tab in order to request the desktop site.

 

Can be a bit fiddly, but generally fewer steps than digging down to where Upwork has hidden this feature.

I'm using a chrome browser. But I don't know why when I open Upwork It shows me a mobile view on my laptop. It really irritates me. I don't know how to get back to desktop mode. When I read articles it says click desktop mode on your setting. but I didn't find any desktop mode in my setting. Please help me.
