Talent Specialists (again)

"... the skill Account Management [and] Property Management is relevant to ..." [in-person manual labor assembly in a manufacturing warehouse electronic clean room].

No. No, they're not. Really. Not even close. At. All. ๐Ÿ‘

If the TS guys are back, keep them far away from me. Mods, please make sure I'm unsubscribed from their "services"...

They brought me my first Enterprise Client, which was very nice. Those guys didn't ask about the price, just when I can deliver and if my estimate was accurate. ๐Ÿค‘

Give them another chance, OK? ๐Ÿ˜‰

(I had miserable matches earlier too...)

Thank you, but I think 7 years is enough second chances.

I just received an invite through one of those "Talent Specialists". I reported the ad he was promoting as it was asking for the proposal to be sent to an external email address. From my understanding, external communications are against the Upwork TOS except for Enterprise clients, and there was no badge on the posting which indicated the client was an Enterprise member.

What annoys me is Upwork is allowing these so-called specialists to operate, despite the fact they are promoting positions that breach the terms of service.

Yes, they are back. They are paid for spamming freelancers. "Iโ€™m here to connect you with high-value clients so that you can spend less time submitting proposals and more time doing meaningful work" meaning: Upwork pays me to connect clients with freelancers. Since I cannot be bothered to use the time I get paid for to read the profiles to make sure I really message the right people, I just spam you with an usless invite so that you can spend more time turning down these invites and less time doing meaningful work.

I also like this new bit:
"If youโ€™re interested, the only thing left to do is submit your proposal as soon as possible to the job post to increase your chances of winning the work. If youโ€™re not interested, feel free to decline the invitation and let us know why itโ€™s not a good fit so that we can send you more-relevant invitations in the future. Best of luck to you!"

Never reply saying you are not qualified. If you do, you get follow up messages asking why you have a skill in your profile and then claim not to be qualified. In my case I translate from several languages but only into German so  turned down an invite to translate into one of my source languages. Eventually a "Talent Specialist" questioned my qualification since most translators offer translation in both directions, which has me doubt their (the freelancer's) qualification, but that is a different issue.

Anyway, good luck with getting "more-relevant invitations in the future".

The most annoying thing of all is the inability to block these people.

Hi Simon,

Thank you for sharing your experience in the Community. I understand your frustration and we'll review the recent invite you received in order to ensure it's in line with our internal procedures. In the meantime, you can request to be removed from the program here.

That's really not cool.

It's none of their f-ing business and freelancers should be free to turn down jobs for any reason they like. They really need to stop interfering.
