Terms of service

A client request we discuss the details of the work on Telegram before formalizing on Upwork. Is this in compliance with the terms of service of Upwork?

All pre-contract communication should be on Upwork. It's against TOS to do it otherwise.

Kunle, as Maggie pointed out, that is a violation of Upwork TOS rules. You could be suspended for doing that.

Also: That person is not a real client. He is a scammer who wants to steal your money.

It is not and probably is a scam.

Please read the TOS and everything you can about the rules and how to avoid scams. Since you have been here a little over 24 hours, you are a target for the scams. If you don't educate yourself and follow the rules, you will be back here upset because you lost money.

Before you apply for even one more job, read the entire TOS. Not only will you likely be scammed, but you will also violate the TOS and can be tossed out of Upwork.

Please bring any concerns here if you have any questions or hesitations. In the meantime, read this:

and the rest of the Upwork series.

Then read this excellent post by Wes:

Be safe!
