A super newbie question, I know, but after googling everywhere I have yet to find an exact answer.
I'm new here, obviously, and just need to double check that I'm getting paid a reasonable amount for my contracts.
Everyone gets paid IN USD, right? And then you are responsible for converting that currency into your local country's currency?
Thanks in advance for the clarification.

In the above link it says :
On Upwork, transactions are always in US Dollars, therefore freelancers will continue to receive payments in their Upwork accounts in US Dollars.
Thanks for your response.
I had found that bit about paying in local currency, but couldn't seem to find the answer I was looking for-- I was obviously blind. Thanks for your help.
Hi there - I too have this question as about to submit my profile for authorisation and want to ensure my hourly rate is correct for where I live (in New Zealand).
Again a newbie and I'm sure the above answers it but I wanted to ask in black and white that the displayed hourly rate against a freelancer's profile is in USD.
So when I convert the amount I'm wanting to receive in NZD I can reduce the amount displayed in USD to equal my local currency.
Thanks and apologies if I am being repetitive or simple!
I appreciate your clarification,
Thanks Irene - I shall convert my NZD desired rate to USD on my profile and get onboard - thanks for promptly taking the time to help out this newbie. It's appreciated! Have a great day.
USD AUD NZD CAD?
When you pay or get paid it may be your local currency but so what?
It's the quoted currency for both clients and suppliers that is the issue.
There is no stated information by Upwork on this matter.
We only know its USD after we either bill or get charged.
How about Upwork includes either
a) USD next to every $ Symbol
b) local currency from IP location
A nuisance if you have priced a job based on one $ when, in fact, it's another.
Sorry if this has caused confusion. The default currency of the platform is in US dollars, hence, all the rates and budgets are in USD.
I'll share your suggestions to the team for their consideration. Thanks for sharing it here!
