Totally unexpected bad reviews. How can i remove it.

Hi
I did one of the client's tasks. He paid for it. But he was absent for a long time. And suddenly gave me 5 star feedback. Which I didn't expect at all. I can't refund him. I want to delete this bad feedback. Please help....

Without refunding you can't remove it.

If you think you don't deserve this feedback, enable the client to change feedback, and then send a kind message that summarizes this subject. You can't remove it since you're not a Top Rated.

fairly irrelevant as the impact on the JSS will remain anyway, and the irritating the client further seems pointless.

Because of the client's fairly poor but limited history there is also a (small) chance feedback with that client is excluded from the JSS.

I agree that there’s nothing that can be done about the one star review but it’s deplorable for a client to wait 13 months to leave a one star review with no written comment on a $10 project.

Disappointing turn of events.

For future reference:

Avoid such situations by closing moribund contracts yourself.

Hi mate, Im just having a browse around the forums as I sometimes do as I use upwork a lot but not the community side.

If I close a contracts that has been sitting open for ages as a freelancer does the client get prompted at that time to leave feedback?

I was working with this guy who was a real pain, I didnt hear from him for 5 months and then he sent me an email saying the work was not done, I got him to check his messages again and find the completed work I sent.... Anyhow long story short, I was scared to close the contract as I didnt want to prompt him to leave bad feedback as I thought he might!

Yes.

However:

It has been my experience that when I close a long-inactive contract, the clients rarely leave feedback.

James, I'd normally let a sleeping dog lie, but the OP's client gave him a one star review more than a year after the fact, so really no telling what a client might do. Best thing you can do is get Top Rated badge and hold on to it so you have negative feedback protection.
