Tracking time on the wrong contract...

Hi everyone!

I hope you're having a better weekend than I am...

I've accidentally tracked time on the wrong contract.

Can anyone please tell me how I can rectify this?

Thanks in advance!

Been there done that 🙂

Take screenshots of your work diary where you logged the time.

Contact the client you SHOULD have logged the work for, and explain, attaching the screenshots as proof of the work done. Ask if you may use manual time.

DELETE the screenshots from the wrong work diary.

Once your client agrees, add the equivalent manual time to the right work diary.

There is no way to "transfer" tracked time from one work diary to another.

Hi Petra!

Thank you! Smiley Very Happy Heart

I will follow your advice and hopefully never repeat the mistake again.

Also, I wonder if I could have your opinion/advice on something.

I was recently offered a full time job where I can log in max. 40 hours/week.

That is fine and all but I had mostly worked with fixed price projects until then.

And on this, I can only log in hours I've worked...which is a matter of fact, of course.

But for example, I sit down to work and start the app. And it turns out, the 'actual' hours (the hours I get paid for) is any where between 4 to 5 hours but I have to invest my whole day in it.

Is this a concern for my productivity? What do you think?

Hi Shreesti,

The weekly limit of 40 hours/week set by your client means that the client will not be automatically charged for the hours you log beyond that limit. If you log less than that, it's okay as long as you complete the work you agreed to complete. If you have any questions about how many hours you are supposed to work, it's better to ask your client.

Upwork

Hello,

I have mistakenly logged into the wrong work project on my Upwork timer. I spoke with my client and he happily agreed that I can add manual time.
So I have added manul time to my running work project and deleted the work log from the project which is not active or working anymore.

Kindly guide me on what else I have to do and what will happen next?

Thanks beforehand.

Hi Mohammed,

Could you please try deleting the time logged into the wrong contract before adding your manual time for the correct one?

There is nothing more you need to do. The correct client will get charged on Monday.
