Two Account, One Phone Number

My wife and I are both using Upwork for different writing freelancing, on separate topics of interest. However, we both share the same phone number. When I go to register, it asks me for my phone number for verification. When I enter it, Upwork says that it is already in use for another account. That, of course, being my wife. We only have one cell phone, and it would be absurd to get another phone just to create an account for a freelance site. Is there -any- way this can either be remedied or bypassed(through the system legally, of course) so that I may register for an account myself?
