Unable to Download Documents in Job Post

Saw a job post by a verified client, tried to download the doc they attached in their post, and got this error:

 

"For your security, we're scanning the file you requested to ensure it isn't hiding a virus or malware. This should just take a few seconds. Please try downloading it again in a minute."

 

Waited a few minutes, but it still didn't allow me to download the doc, even after refreshing, etc. I've never seen this error before. Is this a new "feature" and why am I unable to download the doc?

Yikes!  Sounds like the client has a problem.

Most likely there is an issue with the file the client uploaded. Could you please send me a link to the job post in a private message and we'll check it.

This is happening with every attachment today.  It cannot be because there is suddenly something wrong with all attachments.

I just had the same problem. It seems like the system tries to scan the document (which is good) but unfortunately stops here and the document is no longer available. But wait, I have just looked at the budget and do not need the document anymore (job was repairing a non-native translation that has been rejected by the client, just wanted to know how bad the translation was). Anyway I would be interested to know the reason. I cannot send any document because it is blocked.

Did you check out the website? They just hired somebody and will probably disappoint that poor client again...

 

And yes, I encountered the same problem when trying to download the file. I waited, but nothing changed.

The file was probably OK.

Hi! Since early today I can't access any attachments in the site, nor mine or from people posting job offers. I keep getting the:

Hi,

I sent a proposal with an attachment file (pdf). I can't open this file as they are "scanning" it to ensure it isn't hiding a virus. 2 hours later I still can't open it. Why??

I've uploaded five samples to my portfolio successfully, but upwork won't take sample chapters from my novel. Something about checking for viruses et all. In all cases, Pages docs converted to PDF.

There is currently an issue with opening attachments. Our engineers are aware of the issue and working to promptly resolve it

Every job that I attempt to download the attachment for, results in the same message all have listed in this post. I cannot bid on jobs unless I see what the level of detail is. Please fix this security issue asap. (Even a thumbnail would help instead most of the time.) Thank you!

Could you please, let us know which error do you see when you try to download an attachment? Do you see it when using a different browser or after clearing cache and cookies?

 

Edited: There is a known issue with attachments and our engineers are working to fix it as soon as possible.

I am having the same issue at this time and can't apply to any jobs as I can't view any of the files the clients have uploaded. Will wait for answers in this thread. Thank you very much. 

Hi there, so i'm having the same problem, I cannot download the attachment i've been sent via messages. I tried clearing history, cashe, different broswer, different computer, but nothing is working. I've waited for a few hours trying to download it all throughout the day.

When you try to download the attachment, do you see an error or nothing happens? Could you please submit a ticket request with more details, a link to the job you are referring to and screenshots of any errors you get?

Hi all!

 

For the past hour or so, every time I open a job and try to download the attachment I get this message

 

"For your security, we're scanning the file you requested to ensure it isn't hiding a virus or malware.

Trying in a minute doesn't help at all, still get the same message.

 

For design it's kind of important to see the image. Not too happy bidding blindly.

 

Anyone else getting this? Or is it just me?

Having the same problem right now. I haven't been able to accept a job offer because of this. I'll let my client know. Glad to know it's been worked on.

as you can see I reported this back in July and got the "we're working on it" and still never have been able to download the file ๐Ÿ˜ž

The issue with attachments that re-surfaced today wasn't related to the issue we had back in July. Please, try to download an attachment in a job post again and let us know if you still see the error.

however, I was never able to view that file back in July... and testing it now it kinda pointless as that client is long gone and I don't have the time to muck around more on this ๐Ÿ˜ž

I'm receiving the same error message on some job listings. I have been trying to view an attachment to a job for the past 15 minutes. Yesterday or the day before I also had this problem with a different job attachment.

That error usually means that the attachment can be harmful and was blocked by Upwork security filters. You can send me a private message from my community page or contact support using this link and share more information and the link to the job.

I sent this message Valeria too but I post my problem just to make sure that it will be fixed as soon as possible.

 

Today a client sent me a word document but I cannot open the link. I only get following message:

I tried it a few minutes later to download the document again but it does not work. The same message appears.

 

It is very good that upwork check download links for malware but this client sent me some other links before so I am sure that everything is okay.

 

I would ask you to solve this problem.
