'Unable to apply funds' when using instant pay

Hi,

I'm getting 'unable to apply funds' when using Instant pay to send a payment to my debit card. It's worked fine for years (I sent one successfully yesterday) but today it just keeps failing. I checked with my bank and it's not a problem with the card -- I can still make purchases,  ATM withdrawals work fine, and I can trasnfer money to the card from Paypal -- the problem only seems to occur with Upwork's transfer system today.

Is anyone else having this issue?

I tried to create a support ticket a few times, but the only way to contact support now that I can find is that @$$#$ bot and even though it says 'I created ticket #xxxxx' there are no new tickets listed under my requests.

Is anyone having trouble with the 'unable to apply funds'?

Dave

I've been getting the same error since around 9 p.m. last night, and because I attempted to withdraw, I keep getting an error message stating I cannot withdraw the same amount in a twenty-four-hour period.

Has this been fixed yet?

Nadene,

You can change the withdraw amount but it will fail. I first tried it around 10 hours ago and it's worked fine for years, I think it's a system issue -- a test send directly to my bank goes through, it only seems to be failing on debit cards and only through the Upwork system (Paypal sends to debit just fine, so independent tests  seem to point to a problem with the Upwork payment system)

Hopefully if enough people chime in on the thread and open tickets then we can get this resolved. I don't mind direct to bank transfers, except that they are slower and you have to wait on weekends and holidays. Yuck!

Hello, David:

Thank you for letting me know! I was afraid to attempt sending it to my bank account for fear I might trigger some sort of complete lock-down on my account (happened with another freelancing platform years ago; I waited two months to get my funds).

And yes, waiting does suck!

This is my first time posting to the community, but I figured not being able to withdraw funds was a big enough problem.

Me too. Living abroad so I have to be careful about locking my card accidentally.

My bank was able to narrow it down quickly. I initiated a send while talking to them and they said that they never got the initial request from Instant Pay or the previous ones (I marked the times of the previous sends while I was on hold, ehhehe).

Got a support ticket open and they're checking with PayOps, so hopefully whatever is going on will get resolved quickly.
