UpWork feedback comments as reference

Does feedback on upwork count as a reference when trying to find a local job? Lets say i got 5 times 5 star feedback and nice comments. What if you worked for a year on upwork - does it count as "1 year experience" we all see in the local job postings? Any experiences? Thanks!!

If you choose to, you can cite your experience as a freelancer in general and on Upwork in particular when applying to jobs outside of Upwork. You can share the link to your Upwork profile with others.

Well you certainly can mention that you were a freelancer on Upwork you worked on xx jobs with a success rate of xx% and here are some reviews.

But, to count that as a 1 year experience is streching truth a bit.
