Upwork M-pesa Exchange Rate

Hello Upwork, there seems to be a technical error.

Me and my friend are both freelancers and we were to withdraw funds today.

He had $5 available. I still have $136 available. He withdrew with a rate of 102 (Kenya shillings) but on my account the rate was 94.7 (Kenya shillings).

Last week this same issue happened but I thought it was a technical error.-he withdrew $40 with a rate of 103 (ksh) and me $100 with a rate of 94.7 (ksh).

I confirmed with my uncle today and his rate was 102 (Ksh) too.

I'm not mad with the rate but the unequal treatment. Feels like I'm being punished. Someone please help me. Thanks

Hi Simon,

The exchange rate used when you withdraw your funds is provided by our payment processor and this is not something Upwork can control. Since rates constantly change throughout any given day, the rate you received is the rate offered by our bank at the time your specific transaction was processed. Thanks!
