I think it is best not to discuss your business costs with clients. Tell them your fee and leave it at that. If you get into a debate about what you should charge or what it costs you to do business, then you are probably dealing with someone who will be difficult to work with. Besides, if you say, "I need to charge X to make up for the 20% fee" then your fee is reduced by 10% after the $500 point, the client may decide you should reduce your rate!
