I have read many posts of freelancers complaining about the way Upwork works now and how this platform is not benefiting freelancers as much as it used to do in the past.
Personally, I am also a bit disappointed with the platform at this moment, as I have also had some past months with a very low ratio of clients asking for my services, and some invitations by Upwork Talent Specialists that have been complete scams.
Which freelancer platforms do you think are doing better than Upwork at the moment and why?

I don't think any of the other platforms are better for freelancers - they all have lots of low budget clients, lots of competition, lots of scams, and charge fees in various forms.

Even concierge services like Toptal are bloated with freelancers. Except for niche marketplaces / concierge services that specialize in specific skillsets, I agree with Christine. To misquote the Upwork commercials: "This is just the way it works now."

It wouldn't be an option for the majority of freelancers here to try and move to one of those websites, since they wouldn't get past the vetting process nor want to pay the fees to join.

All platforms would be similar to upwork. Scamming buyers and sellers, low pay jobs. Human exploitation is the cornerstone of our civilization .

The platform has changed for sure but I would not say "plummeting". Here is the thing:
1. During the heart of the pandemic, everyone went to remote work (online, zoom, etc, etc)
2. The pandemic made it acceptable for everyone to work remotely, companies started to hire freelancers more and more.
3. Stock Prices reached all time HIGH for most tech companies, Upwork was one of them. (almost $60, now $14)
4. The Executives at most of these companies have very high pressure to perform, and continue to grow.
5. They start to introduce more features like the 'boost" one which most everyone hates, for many reasons.
6. Basically, when companies were paying top dollar for talent, they are all slimming down now. the tide has turned.
This is what has happened, you will have a lot of people cutting back, this is the way it works,
You will also have a lot more freelancers because as companies cut back, jobs become scarce and they will look to freelancing
Anticipate a TON of freelancers coming in within the next 12 months and possibly, less clients.
We will see what happens.

Hi Magdalena,
I'm sorry to learn about your experience with our Talent Specialists. I looked into your account but couldn't identify the client you're referring to. Are you referring to the most recent reach-out by the team? If so, let me know so I can look into it further.
