Upwork just suspended my contract because client did not update billing method

How was he able to hire me in the first place when milestone had been funded?
He released a milestone already, how was he able to do that?

Really unfair
That was the message I recieved, does this mean it may be terminated later on after investigation?

There is an issue with your client's payment method, so you are advised to stop working on this contract. This is for your protection, so that you don't submit work that might get unpaid. Still unfair?
