Upwork notification messages to keep chats within upwork

Hi Everyone, I recently recieved a reply from a client (whose job posting I submitted a proposal to), however when I opened the chat box I saw header notification which implied "Hi there" followed by something like" it's better to keep your messages on upwork before client has started a contract. It helps you stay off scam, and doing so anyother way is against Upwork Terms and Conditions. "

I never take communications outside upwork, until the contract has officially started ( realized this when I was very new to upwork), and if unknowngly( or due to lack of knowledege) something happens ( for example, a calendly invitation for an interview--which itself was going to be held on upwork-- I got a week ago and I accepted) I still try and research it on Upwork, and if anything states that was against the upwork terms(which I then learnd it was) I straightforwardly message the client (which I did in that case), and do not reply to any messages outside of upwork, and make sure it does not happen again, ever.

I'd like to know if this notification I recieved was generic (everyone recieved it) or was it something else.

Regards,
Hassan Waqar.

Hi Hassan,

It seems like you were referring to a reminder notification. Please know that this doesn't automatically cause any account limitations on your account. This will only show up to remind you to keep communications on Upwork. You might also want to check out the information here to learn more about staying safe on Upwork.
