Hello please I need your opinion on this. Upwork placed my account to private cos I've not gotten hired since I joined in April.
But now I want to give it another go but I'm not sure if I'm to subscribe for 1 month premium or use the money to buy connects and bid on jobs.
Please advice on this is needed cos I'm on a tight budget and I would like to make good use of my limited resources. Thanks 😊

Okay, then get the plus plan and see whether it helps you find clients (it won't).

You will pay $15 just to get 100 connects. Howeber, for $19.99, the premium plan will give you 100 connects and special privileges. In effect you are only spending $4.99 for premium membership. I will go with choosing the premium plan as this will also uplift yoru image on Upwork.

You'll be wasting $4.99. The "special privileges" are being able to see the bid range on projects (which won't give you any insights, because most freelancers have no idea what to charge), being able to hide your earnings (which clients will be able to see anyway, and which will actually hide your profile in some search results), and being able to use the "special" AI for bids (which will make any smart client reject your proposal instantly). Clients can't see whether you have a plus membership or not, and it won't make them any more likely to see your bid or choose your bid.

Ok, I said I am trying not to regret buying the connects becos I am on a really really tight budget. I'd just let upwork be for now and focus on tackling the problems right in front of me, then I will comback to upwok when I am more stable (financially)
So last night I did some research and found what people on other platforms are saying about the premium, and frankly, you're right Christine.
Besides the 1:1 coaching which most of the time, the person on the other end of the video will tell you 95% of stuffs you already know, or stuffs you can read here for free or elsewhere. Then the other 5% would just be 1 or 2 things you might do or say differently and get your first client (in my case).
Other than that, it's just marketiing and would only be recommended for newbiews or people (like me) whose account were automatically swtiched to private in the past
