Upwork technical oddities

I'll use this topic to post actual oddities I find on website. I hope you'll fix these or explain.

 

First, how can one be in US, city Dubai? See attached.

 

Second, from time to time I can't download some files. Support is not of help because by the time I get response and solution either client already responded, he hired someone, or became irrelevant in other way.

"It is not safe to download this file. If you really want to access this file please contact Customer Support."

Please, stop preventing us from downloading files. Everyone should have a protection on their computer. And be aware of not downloading files with weird extensions.

 

Third, mobile app is a mess. Navigating for messages in mobile app is a living hell. Are you aware of that?

 

Rate tips are completely useless. It jumps from $55 to $35 and back. Without me being aware of criteria. I can't have for various clients different price. It's silly. You don't sell chocolate in store to people at different price according to their appereance. "Oh, this one has a nice haircut, I'll price him just $5. This one is ugly, he'll pay $15."

Thanks Petra, but I have an iPad 3, which can't be updated beyond iOS 9, at least not without "jail-breaking". It seems that 5-year-old technology is considered obsolete these days.

 "Antique" is the term you are looking for ๐Ÿ˜‰

In terms of technology, 5 years is several (product) lifetimes.

When I get an offer out of nowhere, without job invite,  job post details, nor anything, I still need to be able to see if client's payment method is verified without needing to ask support staff that q. That info is important.

Have you tried clearing your cache and cookies? I just checked your account and I could see the feedback you just gave to your client.

It shows on my page. It doesn't show on his page, like any of his previous feedbacks, too. I used other browser, Edge. It's same as on Chrome.

Can a client hide written feedbacks? All he got earlier?

 It is clearly visible from her profile.

 

ALL feedback for several of my clients is no longer visible on their "profile page" either.... only the stars.

 

Probably yet another "feature" being tested?

Like Petra has said, I'm not pointing to any specific contract. It's the whole client's profile that got its written feedbacks erased.

This is a part of this topic, but I like to have all in one place.

 

I got several more invitations, and after my response to invite, again, no further replies.

That's ok. Just, I thought of sending a one more message after.

 

I wrote  "Let me know if you got my message."

and I got: "Hi Vesna, no not received any message from you with your sample pitch decks? Thanks"

 

Which is odd, because in my response to his invite I wrote: "You can see all of my relevant samples in my Upwork portfolio." and because he had an additional question asking for portfolio, I repeated: "In my portfolio."

Why would I need to write for the third time about my portfolio if he saw my messages?

 

Okay, maybe he's just one of those confused people who skip info. The thing is it's the second time I get the feedback from a client who invited me that he can't see my prior message (see the link to other topic above).

On mobile version on Kindle Fire clicking on drop down menu and option "community discussions" triggers refresh of the web page and doesn't give a time to choose between next set of optioms.

#1 system creates two separate rooms for the same job post, just because I withdrew the offer and client invited me again to the same job post

#2 for the same job post system shows there are no interviews, although there's at least one interview ongoing (mine)

#3 calls feature still broken

Hi Vesna,

 

I checked and it looks like a few other users reported seeing the same error but it was fixed for them by clearing cache and cookies. Could you please let me know if the error still persists using incognito window or a different browser?

I don't use that feature, but my new client had the same problem a few days ago, and I've seen another freelancer mention it in this forum.
