Verification for Direct Contracts

Hello there,

I have met with a guy from a discord group. He wants to buy one of my service. So I want to invite him for Escrow service in Upwork. If he wants to buy any service from me by the DIRECT CONTRATS, will he need to verify his identity  with video chat or any other process? 

Please clear it to me. So I can tell him what is the process needed for using the ESCROW SERVICE via DIRECT CONTRATS.
