Video Verification....

Guys...

 

If you're going to place accounts on hold for video verification...it's probably a good idea to make sure your CS knows how to go through the process?

Hi,
I completed video id verification. It is more than 48 hours I have completed my video id verification. But till I have not received any email or notification regarding my account temporary hold is lifted or not. How can I assure about my account temporary hold status.

It doesn't look like you're being requested to verify your profile through a video-chat verification. If the team finds the need to do so, they will reach out to you through an email with instructions on how you can complete your verification.

I had a verification call on my account, I'm still waiting for a response after a week. I even finished a job for a client but can't get my earnings because my account is on hold. I even had to create this account to post here since can't access customer support. What is going on?

Well...honestly.....that did briefly cross my mind as well LoL.

I asked CS if this was widespread, meaning everyone was eventually going to need to do it on the FL side, and if I recall correctly their answer was affirmative.

I remember reading the thread announcing the policy. But with the work hurricane underway for me, I don't remember if this was an "everybody" situation.

So. Yeah. When I saw the email in between communications with my clients, I was a slightly frustrated. And then complied (three times until the link to the verification person was operable). 🤓

 If it's going to be a platform norm and isn't triggered by a problem, then it seems the appropriate thing to do would be to give a person a week's notice or so to get it taken care of rather than suddenly say "So, you can't submit any more proposals until you drop everything and attend to this thing we never asked you for before."

I was scurrying around to either boot up my laptop or find a webcam that actually worked when I plugged it in to my desktop LOL.

 

And then a client had sent me an invite and I was on the phone with the docs office trying to move my appointment. 

 

I wish there were some magical freelancer powers that automatically placed me in the "do not disturb she's busy helping UPwork make money" category.

 

But, like everyone else, it was my turn for "YOU MUST COMPLY."

Hello Mods,

 

I have been an active member on Upwork since 2009. This morning, I found that I can not submit proposals and then I discussed the same with a support member. He told me to verify my identity. They have given me 2 options, either video or document submissions. I submitted my Govt issued document for the verification and finished the process.

 

Can you please check and let me know when can I resume? I am feeling really helpless at the moment.

Vlad (or other moderator), are you able to explain why this process is being rolled out in a way that cripples freelancer's ability to submit proposals without warning rather than in an orderly manner that would allow time to schedule the verification before the ability to submit proposals was frozen?

We don't want to disrupt your business, particulalry if you're a good freelancer with experience. That said, temporarily stopping the ability to submit new proposals is an action we know will ensure completion of the video verification request. We'll work on improving the process on our end, so the verification can happen more efficiently.

 I can understand the need to incentivize compliance, but perhaps a few days of lead time--instead of shutting it down and then asking, saying "schedule by XX to avoid interruption"?

As asked before: What does this actually entail? So I have to go out and buy a webcam now?

You can use a webcam or mobile device with a camera to complete verification. If you can't use a camera at all, the team could offer ID verification as an alternative.

As it's "could" offer ID verification, rather than "would" offer it, I assume that means that the team might refuse to do so and therefore the simple answer seems to be "yes" - I have to buy a webcam 😞

If you are asked to verify your profile but are unable to use video, please let the team know. They will assist you and offer alternative solutions without you having to buy a web camera if you don't want to.

I have already done the video call thingie, but I was wondering...will I be required to provide any additional documents in the future?

You won't need to complete video verification again. There could be instances when the team could request you to provide some documents for verification and you'll be notified about it. You can find more information about those situations here

Dear Valeria.

Long time no see.

So far I tried for video test several times.

I clicked "verify profile " button and used direct video chat link that agent send to me.

And I cleared all cache and historyies and even use another browsers(chrome, safari,opera,firefox, even IE).

But I didn't get result.

Pls help me.

Now I can never work almost 1week.

And I worry that my account is suspended after next week.
