Viewing freelancer profiles from forum

Hello,

Recently when I try to look at freelancer profiles from posts in the forum I get a page with the message 'freelancer profile not found'. I click on their name which takes me to their 'about' page (latest post, kudos, etc.) then when I click 'view Upwork profile' the page looks like it's loading then shifts to the 'not found' message. This goes for all users, not just those who have their profiles set to private. 

The issue isn't a big deal but sometimes I'm curious (nosy?) and want to check out a freelancer's profile. I can search in Upwork to find them and view profiles fine, but that's more effort than my curiosity is usually worth. Also, the search function doesn't always work as expected!

Can anyone enlighten me?

Yeah, it's an odd bug that we have been seeing for many weeks now.

When you click on the "View Profile", you go to a page with a URL like this:

https://www.upwork.com/freelancers/_~XXXXXXXX

The problem is with the underscore.

Remove the underscore character, and you'll be able to view the page.

So you see this:

_~

But you you WANT to have is just this:

~

It's a bug. Someone made a mistake.
