What advice would you give to someone who got back to upwork after a gap of long time?

Hi, That someone is me. I haven't worked on upwork for the past 7-8 months due to some health issues. I am trying to make a come back but haven't got any response after sending some proposals. Clients do check freelancer's job history and I fear when they see mine they may get a negative impression about me. What can I do about that? 

Any advice would be appreciated greatly.

You don't need to address your absence.  Maybe you were taking care of a loved one?  Maybe your real job took off?  It's none of their business.  Just keep applying to jobs and creating custom proposals.  Change up your profile so it stands out among the competition.
