What am I not getting right?

Hello freelancers, I am a freelance customer care representative, a virtual assistant, and a data entry specialist. I have been on Upwork for a couple of years now. I have submitted proposals but I have only gotten a few responses and no one has hired me. My first response was in 2020. I had concluded with the client but I didn't hear from her again. For the second one, I was slow to respond to her message invite for an interview so she hired someone else. The third was recent, the client said they were no more hiring for the position as they changed plans. I am very good at my profession. Please what am I doing wrong? Is it my profile or my proposals are not good enough? Please I need help and support.

Hello Chris B,

I can understand your difficulties.

But you should understand somethings. Although you are very good at your profession, that doesn't mean clients will hire you.

Clients hire you or not that depends on your persuasion/sales skill. 

And more importantly, can you understand the customer's requirements correctly or meet their requirements correctly?

On Upwork, I see a lot of great freelancers but still not making money.

There are some freelancers with lower skills but make a lot of money.

Solution:
- You should improve your proposal before sending it to your clients.
- Improve your persuasion/sales skill.

I have never understood what a "data entry specialist" is or what they are doing in 2022! About two decades ago when the use of computers was not so common we used to have "data entry operators" and those operators used to digitize the manual records. 

Now a days there may not such such widespread use for data entry operators, may be in some cases yes, but again but the demand is very low! 

I would suggest you accquire a techinical skill, master it and then offer your services! 

The list of techinical skills to accquire is endless, I am sure you can find soemthing that suits yout interest! And learning a new skill has become even easier now a days! 

Give it a thought and go for it!
