What happenned to this place...?

I have had an account on Upwork for a couple of nice years, but when the service began to change I decided to let go of working here. Upwork used to be a really great place. Today, looking at how the service has been “improved”, I can't believe my eyes.

Exploitation is a word that really isn't exaggerated. The rates seem to be similar to those of a few years ago, with the freelancer having to pay for literally everything. The 10 free connectors allow you to... one application? Sometimes probably even less. Some kind of pathological bidding system has been introduced, which basically means that only those who pay extra have a chance. I wonder: where is the limit of greed?

I don't know what it looks like from the client's point of view, but freelancers here are just encouraged to let go.

Just because my profile is not linked on the forum does not mean I have not used the service. I have been using Upwork for more than 10 years. I was here when the service was called oDesk and later renamed Upwork. I don't know about you, but I have a 10+ year perspective of how the site has changed. There was a time when there was no such thing as “connects” here, the commission for a freelancer was very small, and a premium account only gave you the ability to hide your earnings. Looking at your profile I've been here 2x longer than you, I dare say I know a bit more about how this place has changed though.

Thats right, need to pay 10% if have earnings, and buy connect and apply for job.
