What happens if client is blocked?

Do you guys know what happens if:

*I block a client whos asking me for free work

Q: Will I still see their job posts in my timeline of jobs to apply?

I just don't want to make a mistake and waste my connects.

Hi Jose,

While we won't be able to go into details about our internal processes, rest assured that reported accounts are always escalated to the correct team for their review and are actioned in accordance with Upwork's TOS.

I'm not sure, but this reply seems to be unrelated to the question posted by the OP. Unless blocking a client automatically reports a client as well.

PS. Don't create a ticket for me.

I recently completed a contract with a client and received a x-star review from them. If I block this client now, what will happen to the review and the past contract? Will the review still be visible on my profile, and will the contract details remain unchanged?

Hi Riad,

I understand your concern. Let me clarify that blocking your client will not affect the review or feedback they left on the job, unless you issue a full refund of your earnings for that contract.

Yes, you will still see their job posts, but they won't be able to send you messages on your messages.

Unless a client is being really annoying and won't leave you alone, there is little point blocking them.

Just tell them you're not interested and leave it at that.

Petra, will the client know that you blocked them?

If they try to contact you yes, they will.

re: "will the client know that you blocked them?"

That is an interesting question.

How much does it really matter to you if they figure out that you blocked them?

I have had to block freelancers a few times. I never until this day even thought about whether or not they would know if I blocked them. It's not like I am going to see them at my next family reunion or something.

Thinking back on these incidents... it was the right thing for me to do to block some people who were being pests. I don't know if they ever figured out that I blocked them, but if they did, I am okay with it.
