What is Recent account holds?

So when I check my stats there's a section called "Recent account holds". What is this exactly? And why is it a factor in the stats?

 

It seems to be related to Terms Violation, but it sounds to me like something which happens over and over for contractors, otherwise why is it there?

 

OK don't get me wrong I have 0 next to it and hopefully that's gonna stay like forever, but the fact that this information is there gives me the feeling that I should violate the terms so I can feel normal!

It's good if you have 0 next to Recent Account Holds. In this section of My Stats you would see policy violations and notifications you've received in the past 90 days. You can refer to this section of the help article about My Stats for more information about that metric and to this article for more information on what can lead to an account hold.

It can be violation of Up Work terms & condition and privacy policy. Do not get work outside from a Upwrok client that is the bottom line. 

What do you mean? Like meeting the client at Upwork and continue the job with them outside of it, and letting them pay via Paypal for example?

 

If that's the case then I'm going to be the very last person on planet to violate these terms.

 

Paypal is not available in Lebanon and the only way for me to get paid is via Payoneer (which does accept payments from partners only).

If you can see that on your account you should contact Customer Support. There is probably an issue with your account.  

There isn't. I am only asking in advance to make sure that doesn't happen to me, and to better understand how to avoid it.

Hello, I want to ask about a client's recent hold. I was about to accept a job offer that expires in few days but when I want yo aceept (I have received the job offer via upwork on email with a green bottom), I cant accept it because it says my client"s is on a temporary hold. Why is that? And what will happen with my offer that expires soln, will I lost it?. Or shouldnt I accept any offer from there?.

Sorry I seem to have missed the 0 point you were making 😄

 

Besides reading the article that Valeria has suggested you can also read some threads in this forum, as they can be very useful. The thing is that many freelancers break some of the rules out of ignorance and it causes a lot of stress and unnecessary account suspensions.

 

I hope your number  or recent account holds remains 0 forever 😄

Account holds are possible Terms of Service violations that you have been notified about in the past 90 days. Please, refer to the support ticket for more information. After 90 days an accout hold will not count in My Stats anymore.

Hi Valeria, 

 

I just recently found out about the (1) account hold on my stats. How will this affect my account? I haven't violated any upwork rules in my knowing, but I had a client who's account was suspended. We already ended the contract and left feedback. Is that the reason of the account hold? Or are there any possible reasons? If it's because of my client's account issue, why is this taking against my account?

I have checked with the team and it looks like there is no need for you to complete ID verification at this point. The flag that was causing the account hold has been removed.

Thank you for responding. However, I could still see (1) recent account holds in the My Stats section of my account. I am concerned on how could this affect my profile status. Will this limit the functionality of my account? What action needs to be taken for this account hold to be (0) under the recent account holds.

I have found 02 recent account hold.

I never demand work or pay outside upwork but client creates 02 complain against my profile. 

I send many email  Request #21572238 but response not possitive.

I lost my Top Rated badge and I feel very insulting.

I work with honesty and integrity but this type of response gives me lots of demotivation.

Please ASAP solve my issue or give me a direction to solve this issue.

My last client (Singapore clients) experience not good please check my profile.

Today when i checked my profile, my top Rated badge has been removed and when i checked my profile its say's that i have a recent account hold 1 . I have been working regularly at Odesk/Upwork for  4 years  with almost 20,000 hours and I was top rated(At the time of announcement) with 100% job success. I tried to submit a proposal then it takes me to ID verification page. I already submitted my Postal Id and utility bill.

 

My account is NOT under hold or under review or Transaction is not limited. 

 

I did not violate and Odesk/upwork Policy  and i did not receive any negative feedback from my client, and no dispute since last 2012. 

 

 

Please help me. so that i can focus in my work now.

My account is put on hold. And the reason i got in email is regarding some contract clarification. I already gave contract clarification and now it's more than 12 hours. This is really a weird situation for me. Can someone please assist me here. How can i get the faster response? It's being more than 2 years i am working on upwork. I created an ticket yesterday and when i see my stats there is one account hold count for me. Is there something to do with my ticket created at customer support? I don't have any violation from my account.

Hello Upwork comunity. 

 

For about 1 month ago i have earned account hold (the suspicion in the payment and deals with clients withput upwork), but i have no money balance in paypal at those momment, and told to client that i don't wonna to work like that couse need nice rating stat in upwork and all the conditions that give's satisfy me. My account been unhold , but now i have acount hold count - 1. Its delete my rasing talent perk and make really harder to take new projects. Can you help me somehow to reset Recent account holds ? Hi Artem,

 

On My Stats page you see your account holds in the last 3 months. That means that 3 months after your account was put on hold, it will reset and not count in your stats anymore.

Hello Valeria,

 

I have 1 recent account hold in My Stats which is preventing me from getting top rated badge. My account was put on hold because account of a client I was working with was suspended. After that I passed ID verification and my account was restored.

 

I don't think my account should be affected negatively because client's account has been suspended. Please let me know if recent account hold can be removed

That means you had an account suspension in the last 3 months. It will vanish when it gets 3 months old.

I'd be more concerned about that very low private feedback percentage.
