What is the Date of birth format ?

I was trying to add my payment method via bank transfer and after putting SWIFT Code, on the bank account details page, i was being asked to provide my date of birth. Whatever the method i was trying to write my DOB, it was showing a red-marked error saying "invalid format". Please help !

I've tried this DOB format YYYY-MM-DD several times and it still won't work. I've written it precisely this way 199* - 05 - 01 and it keeps rejecting it. 

Is there some other method I can try? Also, I'm using my National ID but it doesn't have my DOB on it, will that be a problem?

O yes, it gets resolved by this format. Just did it. the issue is that the Upwork team should work on showing the require tooltip when the wrong DOB is being entered. they show only when a correct is entered. Please write in this format to avoid any inconvenience.
