Why Are Freelancers Compelled To Provide Ratings When Ending A Contract?

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I meant close the contract without leaving feedback.

no feedback will open another can of Upwork beans as many of us actually check out what other freelancers have said about a client before bidding on a job. If I, for instance, see a tendency of bad feedback, I can take it for granted that there is a fish somewhere. Look...not ALL bad feedback is warranted...this is a fact. We all get that one or two bad experiences every now and then. However, if a tendency develops...which would only be seen by means of feedback....then you know what you may be letting yourself in for.

The problem is the number of freelancers that are too scared to leave honest feedback. I mean, why? What are you scared of?

Best guess: many freelancers think clients will see their feedback before leaving feedback of their own.
