Why I am not gettingHI, jobs here even after 100 bidding?

Hi,

Why I am not getting jobs here even after 100 bidding? Since upwork has started charging for bidding, I am only losing bids nothing else? Are fake jobs being posted here? I have bid on more than 100 jobs buying paid connects but no luck. While earlier I was getting one out of 10  jobs when they were not charging for paid bids? Is anything wrong going on to earn from bids above 20% commission on each winning job?

Thanks

Deepak

you have to reduce your price. Upwork has very cheaper clients the only wants to do almost free work done. This is a cheaper market and you will not make any good money from it. But if you luck to favor you can find very tinny Good client like other luck freelance. I am facing the same problem for almost 5 years. I was a top freelance and hight earning freelancer from Elance. but in upwork I am not gating any jobs. Upwork destroyed my career and other freelancers. 85% of upwork freelancer is not getting Good jobs. but upwork is forcing freelancer to do cheaper work. but upwork is forcing freelancers to do cheaper work. Upwork is for the client not for Freelancer. In upwork client is the winner and freelancer is the looser

So where we can earn more for a better price

Find Good local jobs with companies. Or Keep trying on upwork . and something you can find on the internet try the search

I do not think this is a solution.

I am doing freelancing for almost 15 years. I know upwork very well.  ( odesk and Elance ).

Hi Goran.

The problem is upwork minimum project budget upwork needs to increase the minimum project budget to a bit higher like other freelancer sites. its Not our profile problem.

I think Elance is not there anymore.

**Edited for Community Guidelines** is much bakwas than Upwork as they also sell bids and I see 1000s of fake projects making me lose bids.

And, since upwork has started selling bids, I am sure, we are losing bids in fake projects here as well otherwise the ratio which was 1:10 is now 1:200 How and why

No, they are not. Upwork are not forcing freelancers to do anything.

Deepak, don't listen to this guy. Those freelancers that are successful will tell you that most clients look for quality over price, and they pay according to what they can afford. Who would you rather listen to; those that are doing well, or those that are not? Dropping your prices can actually be HARMFUL to your prospects.

I don't know your field so I can't give any further advice on that - just don't let this guy's negativity get to you. IF you have the skills, then you will be able to find the right clients.

Jamie,

I have the skills and I am into book formatting, layout, typesetting, content writing, user manual writing, and much more. In fact, I have a team now but I started as a single person.

My concern is that when Upwork was not charging to buy connects and was giving free connects, I was getting 1 or 2 out of 10 proposals but since they have made it compulsory to buy connects, I keep bidding the same way I used to do when connects were free to a limit but now I hardly get projects.

Like**Edited for Community Guidelines** are we getting fake projects here as well?

Like I said ---  I don't know your field.

Somebody will probably be along with more advice and/or constructive than I can offer. Just try and listen to those that are trying to offer a positive solution.

Yes Deepak, job postings on Upwork are all fake. This is the only reason why you can't land one Deepak. The only reason. Fake jobs Deepak. That's it. Hey, you know what? You should just close your account. After all, Upwork has only fake jobs, so just close your account. Don't spend money to buy connects anymore.

Dear Rene,

It is better if you can suggest a possible solution rather requesting me to close my account.

we can trust  if any jobs expired in upwork the Connect should be  back to freelancer account

Dear Mr. Jamie.

Please, Sir first check my profile and earning and check how much I am paying UPWORK. I've applied for almsot 150 jobs in the last 30 days and not gating any reply from any proposal. so I am thinking upwors is start scamming with freelancers. and posting fake jobs. 60% jobs are expired with no freelancer selecting

In freelancing, work isn't everything. As a freelancer, you have to excellent at what you do, but you also have to be great at communication, time management, marketing, and a lot of other skills that most companies hire specialists to handle. Your work may be really good, but if you can't market yourself correctly, then it's to no avail since nobody is going to give you the time of day to begin with.

Many of the jobs you apply to will be posted by English-speaking clients, and communication is a huge part of the freelancing process. You need to communicate work expectations, deadlines, progress over time, any issues that come up - the entire process is based on the presupposition that there's a workable communication infrastructure. If a client sees that your English isn't great, then right off the bat, they're made aware that communication might be an issue during the project. This is off-putting and may be one of the reasons why your proposals are often rejected.

My advice would be to have a friend spell-check your proposals. Use Grammarly for all of your interactions with clients. Even better, take some online English courses to improve your communication skills. All of these will go a long way in landing you some good jobs, provided your work itself is stellar. Good luck!

Hi Varun. You are great. Thank you

Nonsense

You are in a competitive category, with a not so great profile and JSS. If your posts here are anything to go by, your proposals will be similar.

Have you wondered whether maybe your proposals are just not very good and that's why clients don't hire you?

Hi Petra. You will not face the problem we are facing because of you from Italy. we are facing a problem with India / Bangladesh / Sri Lanka. All client think this country's freelance are made for cheaper work 🙂 I am really sorry for the post bad comments

By default, the average wages in a country with a low cost of living will be lower than those in a developed country. That is a given. However, this does not have to reflect on you personally. You are not defined by your residence or where you come from, you are defined by who you are. Your talents, your skills, your work.

If you don't want to be paid low wages, raise your rates!

Hi Varun. You are smart. Yes, this is the same problem I am asking. If we raise our rates/ price we will not get any jobs. And after I raising my price I am not getting any jobs from upwork. Sorry about that. But I am leaving now...

Hi Vinod,

Thanks for your message. I'm an Upwork Success Partner and an independent professional on Upwork for more than 6 years, and I would be happy to share a few tips on how you can improve the marketability of your profile but your profile is currently set to private so no one here can view it.  Would you like to change your profile visibility status so I could take a look?

Best,

No hard feelings, but according to your profile, you have completed 5 jobs, 3 (probably all 5) for the same client, you have have not been hired by a client for almost 3 years and therefor you do not have a JSS. What qualifies you to tell freelancers how to be more successful?

Agreed, but I have to say, I do prefer "independent professional", or "independent contractor". It's very much better than "talent" or any other cringemaking epithet that Upwork comes up with.

Hi Jennifer,

Great question.  The people who make up the Success Partner team were all chosen for their extensive freelancing backgrounds and success on Upwork. The profiles/accounts that we use in the community are separate from our personal profiles. This allows us to have the freedom to continue our personal business with clients and interact with the community in a non-official capacity if we wish.

I hope that information helps.

Hi Tiffany,

Just out of curiosity, how the Upwork Success Partner program works? What are the eligibility criteria?

Thanks,

Ehsan.

Hi Ehsan,

To clarify your question, are you asking how you can get help from a Success Partner, or are you asking something else?

Best,

Tiffany F. | Upwork Success Partner

I have used more than 200+ Connects I can't get even a single reply on the Upwork.

Hi Aroop,

It happens many time with me that you use connects, apply for jobs, you follow all tips shared by success partners but still no jobs, and this all makes me feel like your LUCK gets you job nothing else.

Thanks

Deepak
