Why do Proposals sometimes go "poof"

Has anyone experienced submitted proposals that are "there one day" and "gone the next" -- what is the explanation?

Do you ever look in your archived proposals for them?

They go there when your proposal is declined or the job closed or expires or Upwork pulls the job.
