Unfortunately, Upwork has lost its distinction of being a prestigious platform as before. What I don't understand is: Why does Upwork persistently try to become a Fiverr? In the past, real freelancers could do business at industry standard prices. Since the Fiverr model was introduced with the Project Catalog, thousands of Fiverr freelancers have invaded Upwork, claiming to be doing business for $20. The cheap client was already visiting Fiverr for that kind of crappy stuff anyway. I think the people who run Upwork really need help because no sane manager wants their company to lose prestige and become cheaper in quality. Upwork should protect freelancers with insdustry standard rates and real professions who pay high commissions to Upwork. After chasing Fiverr's business model, Upwork ceased to be a prestigious business platform because of the so-called freelancers who opened their second account on Upwork and claimed to be doing business for $20, did not pay taxes, could not even issue invoices. Upwork should be reverted to the old format as soon as possible or this Fiverr-like model should enter the market as a separate platform. Only real taxpayer freelancers who do business at industry prices should stay on Upwork. I remember the phases I went through when they accepted me on the platform several years ago... I really miss that seriousness. Old days with no scam attempts...

"Old days with no scam attempts... " Oh, those were the days and they are long gone, my friend.

I think you can create a search habit that precludes some of the lower cost job posting here Doga. In the end though, this is a world-wide talent matching site --- and it attracts some cheap clients. not exclusively though, is my point.

That is a very interesting topic. Generally speaking I will agree with you. But I am afraid this is a "problem" with no solution. When a 10$ salary in an Asia country is equal to 100$ (for example) in US or Europe then you can easily understand that it is more about different monetary exchange rates and cost of life (or "currency power") rather than quality I guess. Here in Europe, more and more companies/clients are trying to find free lancers from Asia that they work at the half price for the same results. I have seen impressive projects of really high quality that were accomplished for really low prices (for European standards).
