Why won't Upwork let me upload a profile picture?

I have been trying for most of this morning to figure out why I can't upload a profile picture. There is a round circular icon with a plus sign which says "Add Portrait" and when I click on it, it goes to the my profile page. On that, a placeholder is shown for the photo with no way to upload a different one.

Someone please help!

NOTE: I just created my account and have never uploaded a photo to Upwork before.

When it goes to your profile page, click on the circle with the placeholder. This screen should come up:

Sorry to hear that. Can you kindly try the following troubleshooting steps if you haven't done so already:

- Clear your regular browser's cache and cookies then try again

- Use a different browser

- Check your browser's security blocking settings of any if the Upwork pages are being blocked

- Temporarily turn off your computer's antivirus and firewall programs and try again

If none of these work, please get back with us with the screenshot of the error page you are getting so we can further diagnose the issue. Thank you.

I'm trying to upload a profile picture but the system wont allow me to. When I try to upload the photo, the system rotates the photograph and I think this means that the system isnt recognising it. 

I tried another photo, but it shows an error message that the photo must be under 5mb. The photo I'm using us 2.2mb, so I'm not sure what to do!

I'm sorry to hear of the trouble. Have you cleared your cache and cookies and try a different browser? Also, please resize the photo to 300x300 and make sure that it is clearly showing your face. If you are still having trouble uploading your picture, please let us know so that we can assist you further.

I'm having the same exact problem. Wehn I upload my desired picture, the picture rotates and it says it can't recognize my face.

Can you please check if the image you're trying to upload is in .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .png format and at least 250px by 250px? Also, make sure that it's a clear photo of yourself, not a long shot and your face is clearly visible. If it meets those requirements and you still can't upload it then please try clearing your cache and cookies and using a different browser to check if the problem persists.

I keep trying to upload a photo but keep getting an error message saying that I need to use a photo that is at least 250px by 250px or increase crop size -- I've tried using different photos, using a desktop computer vs my iphone, nothing works. Can you help?

Please try using a larger photo or you can try to use a photo editing software to increase the size of the current photo you are trying to upload as your profile pic.

Could you please make sure that your profile photo meets the following criteria. It should be a clear, headshot-style photo, that's cropped from the top of your head up to your shoulders. Make sure that your photo doesn't have sunglasses, logos, clip-art, is not a group picture, and is not digitally-altered. Here are some examples that you can use as a reference. 

If your photo meets these guidelines but you are still unable to upload it, please update this thread and attach a copy of your photo so that I can assist you further.
