Will I be getting paid what I earned?

I recently got an hourly contract where the client told me that I can track auto or manually, as i wish. He will count manual time. And told me his other freelancer tracks manually. He is busy and doesn't have time to check. So I started work and tracked around 2-3 hours automatically and then the rest manually. Now all of a sudden he abruptly paused the contract and a little while ago ended the contract. Screenshot attached.

My question is, will I get the $40.70 ?? How do i handle the client?

You'll get the money if your client does not dispute or there in an issue with payment.

Not sure what you mean by "how to handle the client", who is not your client anymore... Contract is over.

Another thing... I don't see that contract on your profile at all... Do you have more than one account?

Hi Petra

No, I do not have multiple accounts. And I don't know why it doesn't show in my profile. Maybe because I haven't provided feedback yet? I dont know. I just want to know how will i know if my payment is getting processed? Or if he doesn't pay, how will i know?

 You'd get a notification.

Manual time is not protected, but what makes you think the client won't pay?

He is snobbish and bossy. Very incompetent. I just gave him feedback and saw his feedback which was 90% fabricated. He isn't a "good" client who knows how to respect people, in general. I can't counter-comment his feedback because most of his communication was done outside upwork and in voice chat. That's where he showed his true colors. His profile also shows some other freelancers complaining about his attitude. He has 1 freelancer that he "worships" and demeans anyone who cannot work exactly like him. Very arrogant and cocky and does not provide instructions and expects a person to "know the excyclopedia" in an day!

All these is making me think twice whether he's gonna pay or not. So was wanting to know how do i know his payment status. Also, is there a way to reverse his feedback? It has affected my profile.

It has not affected your profile yet, because it is not visible yet.

If nothing is paid, then it will not be shown on your profile so if you categorically do not want it to show you can delete all hours (if they were logged this week) or issue a full refund.

It will count into your JSS whether you refund or not, though.

My JSS is 100% and i dont want it to be affected in any sort. Also, iv replied to his feedback as well.

In this current situation, can you advise me what to do?

Your JSS will be affected. There is no way around that fact. How far are you away from being top rated? Once / if you reach top rated status you can have one contract excluded from the calculation.

I dont know how to know "how far i am from Top Rated". How do i see/know that?

And, how much will it affect my JSS?

Hi Wakibur,

Manual time is not covered by Upwork payment protection. Regarding getting paid, please wait up next week because Clients are given 5 days to review the job. If the client will not file a dispute, you will receive your payment; however, if the client files a dispute the hours you manually logged will not be covered by Upwork payment protection.

If the client has not disputed this week's hours by midnight UTC next Friday, you should be fine. However, bear in mind that payment means the feedback will be displayed on your profile. No payment and nothing will show.

You can see how close you are to top rated on your My Stats page. You need at least $ 1000 under 12 month earnings, 13 out of 16 eligible weeks and have no recent account holds.

Wakibur,

I require that clients explore a fit with me in a voice-to-voice chat before accepting work. In my written response I probe for narcissism and a few other things. In the chat, my whole purpose is to qualify the client as someone with whom I want to work. Most times that puts me in work with a good client. Sometimes it doesn't. I fired one such client this week.

I refuse to use time-tracker for multiple reasons. First, it is so easy to bypass that it is useless to the client. Second, my engagements require an atmosphere of mutual trust; punching a time clock pollutes that atmosphere. Third, I work on multiple client jobs simultaneously. If I forget to turn off the time-tracker, another client's confidential information can be revealed.
