Will this affect my JSS/ profile?

I took on a small contract (fixed price), and days went by not hearing from the client. They did pay a 50$ deposit (milestone) but that is still in pending. Early this week they replied saying that the job will probaly no longer go ahead, and now I cannont get any response.

If I end the contract, will it effect my JSS/ profile? How do I go about refunding money that is currently pending?
Any insight/ help would be appreciated.

Any contract that ended without money being paid will affect a freelancer's JSS negatively.

I believe if you end the contract, the money in escrow will automatically be refunded to the client.

"Any contract that ended without money being paid will affect a freelancer's JSS negatively."

Why on earth would that be? The client hired me, than their campaign got pulled - that is on them, not on me.

The funds are still in Escrow? Your post is confusing because you say "Pending" - If they are in Escrow: Simply hit the "Submit Work and Request Payment" - edit the amount to $ 5 or $ 10 for messing you about and close the contract afterwards. The rest of the money goes back to the client's payment method automatically.

That way you avoid a "No Payment" contract.

Personally I do not accept contracts until I have all I need to complete the first milestone.

No. Only if it is a "nothing paid AND no feedback" contract.
