Withdrawal is lost

I've done a withdrawal on 25 of May. Since I didn't receive funds to my bank account so far, 14 days, I requested a payment trace procedure. The amount is significand and I highly disappointed by the 72 hours of silence from payment team. The situation is totally unacceptable, I really want to know the status of my payment.

I requested wire transfer to my bank that used to work before (i Have been using it for all of my money transfers from Upwork) and for more than 3 weeks Upwork didn't send any money. What I learned from the Upwork support is that the transaction got somehow lost between banks and partner banks and never reached by destination bank, however, left Upwork's balance.

For about a month I am not able to receive the money for a few months' worths of work and Upwork is not providing any escalation points or any timelines when it can be resolved. Also, I was asking for some details on reasons why it happened, how it can be avoided, how I can be sure this is not gonna happen again, how often does it happen, and how much it typically takes and no luck. I am frustrated with the inefficient way my problem was handled so far and I kindly ask anyone who had the same problem to reach out and comment on this post on any details about how you found a way out.

Hello Andrea,

Unfortunately, payment team is not able to resolve the issue. This is the reason I write here.

It does not look safe to work and transfer money through Upwork then because it lasts for a month already and I don't see any progress. I just was notified by payment support team there is no deadline or estimate when it can be resolved. And Upwork can't do anything with that. Intermediate bank can just not respond to inquiries.

 

Did I understand correctly it can take months or years to return my $10k? Or maybe intermediate bank can just refuse to return funds at all? payment team said they can't do anything with that except waiting.

Thanks for the help. I just received my money after 1,5 months of waiting.

Unfortunately I have the same issue with my next withdrawal. I would like to initiate trace procedure again.

Also I would like to know what is the reason why my withdrawals which used to arrive on time now are delayed three times in a row? Maybe I can somehow prevent it in the future on my side?

Hi Roman,

 

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles with the funds. Are you referring to the withdrawal from the 28th of June? If so, our team will be able to initiate a trace after 8 business days which is tomorrow.

OMG 1.5 Months and I need money for my surgery by the 24th. What am I supposed to do? This really sucks, this is my second time doing a wire transfer with Upwork and I am regretting it, almost 17k of my earnings. I don't even know what to do and they are very slow. It's almost like the banks are holding onto the money before they send it to you because I see this happen to a lot of users, this is not an issue I have experienced with Payoneer. This really sucks, I have surgery and now I'm scrwed, literally crying as I type this.

My money has been missing for 1 month and I am losing hope.

Still haven't heard a thing. I got the telex copy of the transaction and everything looked okay, the bank and the account details are right but still nothing. I am just filled with regret as I wish I used payooneer. I just hope it isn't lost because it's my complete 6months pay plus all my bonuses. How about you, what's the update on yours?

I was hoping you were going to say that you had recived it by now.  Nope still nothing from my end, tomorrow will make 5 weeks. I just withdrew a week's salary so I can imagine your frustration for 6 months plus bonuses. I messaged someone else on here but his issue happend 3 years ago but he did say he received his funds he just can't remember how long it took.

Sighhhh I will keep you posted.

I literally will have to lend money. Had to push my surgery date by one more week. So fraustrating. I'll keep you posted too.

Hello Carolyn, the money was finally reversed to my Upwork account today, I am going to try again with a bank that I've used on Upwork before which actually went through.

That's great news!! I am happy for you. How long did it officially take for you to receive it, 2 months?

Three weeks and two days

Also you lose the $30 transfer fee
