Working timer

I am new to Upwork, recently I received a small contract work, with hourly payment. It was infact a survey completion. But unfortunately I was not know that i had to set work timer before I start such works. Now i completed the task. But client says they are unable to pay me. Any solutions for this. Please guide me. Thank you.
