Writing for a client without a verified payment method

Good afternoon!  I was wondering if it is safe to write for a client's first job, where there payment method has not been verified or if there is a chance to do the work and not get paid for it.

Thank you for your time!

As long as the client sends you an offer and you accept it (not through chat, clicking the actual Accept button).  For fixed priced, a funded milestone is needed.  For hourly, just make sure you use the time tracker.  Do all these and your payment will be protected by Upwork.

Wrong

If the client does not verify their payment method, he will NOT get paid, even if there is a funded milestone or he tracks his time.

Dangerous misconception and potentially very harmful advice.
