If you can only work based on your availability, go for fixed priced projects. You be only limited by the agreed deadline or delivery date of the final product. There are short term Hourly projects, and if would be up to you to negotiate with the client with regards to the schedule that would fit you.

A curious thing happened to me with this availability status. about the same time it appeared on my profile, the results of "my job feed" disappeared. I chatted with an oDesk rep and the issue was escalated to the engineering team. Now, I just see this message: "Oops, looks like we don't know enough about you to recommend specific jobs. Tell us more about yourself by adding information to your profile and start applying to jobs"

This is bad. May be we will not get job feed or option to apply if we select Not Available.

I actually selected "Available"... but don't get worried about it yet... it might just be a coincidence that job feed disappeared the same time that status became active.
