I had worked for over two months with a client on his psychology book. He needed his 650 page Word manuscript designed for print and an ebook. The work started off well enough, him approving the cover art and initial layout, and the running headers, and the TOC (with lots of back and forths), and once those items were set on the print file, he wanted his index placed. Not an issue, or it shouldn't have been, however there was no index flagged from his Word file and thus the added "creation" of an index for flagging was needed. I asked him for a list, which he provided, and on his two lists: one for names, and one for topics, I began the automatic process of finding the key words on his list using scripts. However he didn't approve of the results, claimed many were missing, so I went through the list again, this time spelling the entrires in different ways. He still was not satisfied. So I then painstakingly went through each entry, over 300 for topics, and the general phrases this 76 year old psychiatrist was using, to expand the index. On a couple of instances I saw word/subjects I thought would be good to add, and he removed them. Everything is in our exchage, including what he wanted kept, and what he wanted removed. I then received his approval that the print file was ready, so it was then time to review the duplicte file (over 14 ID files in his book), and begin formatting specifics for coding the epub in InDesign. Three weeks later and dozens of proofs later, he decided the ebook was approved....and then....he went into the index to look for two words: "depression" and "suicide" and they were not there. They weren't even in the original list he gave me. He has now decided that his inaccuracies are my fault. I tried to work with him, and deal with his impatience, his arrogance, his attitude, AND HIS ALL CAPS RESPONSES. I reached out to Upwork dispute becuase I could sense his frustrations with the situation. He wanted me to keep the workroom open so, as he thought, could bill me in reverse for hiring someone else to add to his index that he had not hired me to develop, only to flag. Well, Upwork responded with a general response that he had not been disputing anything so they hoped all would turn out well. Over the weekend this crazyness continued (sorry but they do say psychiatrists are just crazy people themselves trying to find themselves out) and the context of the book does indicate that, so yes I am dealing with some one's insanity cries here, but I am the ultimate victim of his haste. He left me a scathing review, because he could, although it is a bunch of lies and ignorance. The truth is that I did close the job because I was needing to depart from his repettitive and unwarrented complaints. The final straw was his accusation to me, with his his final parting words: YOU WILL NOTE THAT YOUR CHARGES WERE OFTEN MADE AND PROCESSED BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO CHECK ALL OF THE WORK IN THE FILES.
You see from that, he is ignorant to the process of verifying my workroom snapshots, and it substantiates the fact that while he was provided over 20 proof files during our daily communication process, he just will not accept personal responsibility and some how, it's my fault.
How do I remove his horrible lies on the feedback?

You are top rated. Use your perk and it'll be removed.
That's assuming you've not used the perk in the last 3 months and 10 contracts. If you've used the perk in the last 3 months and 10 contracts the only way to remove it is a full refund. That feedback is not disputable.
PS... did you really insert a credit to yourself? You do know you really, REALLY can not do that?
Slightly related: Paragraphs are your friend. They stop the reader's eyes bleeding 😉

Thank you Petra, I just submitted that info. Ironically, another great long term repeat client who also hired me on Upwork as their first Upwork freelancer (and only one for them so far) just gave me a bonus for some work I performed for them last week.
Great quote too!

Leave a very short response to the feedback indicating that the client was difficult to work with. I have to say though, the fact that you worked 112 hours on the project but have kept the earnings private may give you more trouble than the review. As a client, I would want to know more about what a project of that size really costs. Plus, if you leave your earnings private, I'm going to suspect your hourly rate is inflated.
