client doesn't want to pay me

Hello,

I have an issue right now with a client I have been working with for 4months. He hired me 4months ago for interpretation services. Everything was going well at the beginning, until he asked me to add my working time at the end of the month, not on a daily basis. In Mid-July, after not getting paid for two months, I told him that I couldn't continue that way and kindly asked that he pays me to clear all the my pending electricty and internet bills. He first told me that I can pause for one week just enough  time for him to make the payment. But instead, he blocked me from all the work platforms. Now, I am in a dilemna, should I contact the company I was interpreting for, because the client was just a go-between person?

Unless you used the time tracker for all the work you did, you're using the site wrong. If the client refuses to pay you, there is nothing you can do.

In future, keep the time tracker on for all jobs paid by the hour, and also keep memos of your work. You'll be paid each week, as long as you don't work beyond the limit set by the client. Without doing this, you have to rely on the client's honesty, and that's a bad idea.

No, your relationship is with your upwork client, contacting an outside party outside of upwork would be highly inappropriate.

If a client doesn't want to pay you, then stop working for him.

Not complicated.

If a freelancer works on Upwork, and doesn't get paid, it is the freelancer's fault.

If a freelancer works on Upwork and doesn't get paid, it means the freelancer is using the tool incorrectly.

The thing to do is for the freelancer to learn what he is doing wrong, and change his behavior.
