It depends. Some of them hire immediately and some of them take hours/days to hire.

I've had clients reach out several weeks to a few months after submitting a proposal.

I've seen clients hire in just a few minutes, hours... days, weeks .Also seen where a client hired one freelancer then reached out about my proposal (sometimes days or weeks later) when the first hire doesn't work out. You just have to flow with it.
