but suddenly the contract was cancelled, i think upwork cancelled it. but neither do i and the client want to cancel this,
there is no request refund, no anything, so i am confused on how to continue
You may avoid the contact now. The buyer/client needs to verify their identity or the payment method. after He/she completed all his/her terms and conditions, Upwork will notify you to start work.

it usually works like that, but upwork abruptly cancels the contract 10 mins after emailing me for holding the contract... also the client said she hasn't got the refund, nor i get any refund request. this doesn't work like upwork usually so i am confused.
