Take note of the people QQing about everything falling apart in thread after thread after thread during the summer. They will disappear after about September and they'll be back next summer saying the same **Edited for Community Guidelines** They still haven't figured out slow seasons, so they come back every summer to tell us everything is falling apart.

The original Eeyore at least doesn't try to tell us he gave upwork $1600 and OOOOOPS that was his client income not fees.

It never ends in this place, but the dramacoin always goes up in the summer so I invest heavily.

By the way, did you know that connects now cost us moneyz?

What I was worried about specifically this guy is in June he was like, I got 4 jobs, now no new jobs.

Now here it is in August, got 14 jobs, now no new jobs.  Is he going to ring the cash register every time he doesn't get new job.  Does that work?

There is. Any time I see a freelancer outright lie about a skill I dismiss that freelancer immediately.

Your profile, full of errors as it is, claimes "native" level English skills.

When I see a freelancer lie about one thing, I assume the freelancer is fundamentally dishonest and everything else on the profile is a complete and utter lie as well.

I personally find it extremely annoying when people have specialized profiles, and then the text is the same in each one, sort of missing the point completely.

I blame this on Upwork for forcing new freelancers to have specialised profiles whether they want them or not.

Upwork will have to prise my old-style single-profile profile from my cold dead hands.

Yeah, me too - it's a giant PITA. I had stripped everything out of my portfolio and was in the process of improving and rebuilding it. Then I became too busy to finish, and by the time I was ready to resume, it was too late - I would be forced to create a specialised profile now (totally unnecessary, since my main profile is ALREADY specialised).

If and when I'm eventually forced into this, my specialised profile is going to be identical to my main profile (sorry Martina).

No problem, just tell me when that happens so that I can avert my eyes.

Grigor,

I get the same problem from time to time.  I am not sure if it just how freelancing is or not, but I have found ways that do get me better conversions.  Here are my tips that improved my conversions for my profile.

1.  I completed my profile.

2.  Added in any certificates and accomplishments with scanned copies

3. I added in content showcasing what I completed in my previous projects with a video.

4. I added an introduction video to my profile.

5. I structure my proposal as follows:

    a. Intro with a project or projects I have completed similar to this one.

    b.  I explain my background in two to three sentences

c. I summarize their project needs to indicate I know what they need.

    d.  I create an outline of how I will accomplish the project.

    e.  I ask for a phone call to go over any questions they may have about me and the project

f,  I thank them for reading my proposal

6. And lastly, I add some extra value content explaining my services in a brochure and infographics.

After I changed to this I was able to get more conversions on projects.  I also focused on projects I know I could complete.

You could try something like this, as it might help get you a couple more jobs a month.

Good luck!

First of all, it does take time to get started on Upwork - and you did get some jobs in June. Be patient. However, in your profile, I suggest you focus on what you can do for clients and say less about yourself. The first two sentences of your profile overview are crucial for what you offer clients. Many clients won't get beyond those sentences if you don't "get" to them.
