You don't get any read notifications like you do in Facebook and Whatsapp etc.

I think that is good for us freelancers. If our clients send us a task and we read it on our mobile, if they get the "Read" notification, then that would put a sort of a pressure on us to do that task as soon as possible, especially if the task was a small one e.g. just 10 min task. So if the client knew that I read the message 3 hours ago, he or she would think what is taking me too long. 

So i think it is good that read receipts are not provided in Upwork chat messenger.

I believe it m ight be purposeful by the Upwork team as they want to protect freelancers. Because technically incorporating read receipts feature should be something straight forward for a programmer.

Anybody knows the inside story why read receipts were not kept in the upwork chat messenger?
