Does anyone know how you get the "24 Hrs Response Time" badge that I see on the right side of some profiles?
I always respond that quickly, but don't know how the system would measure it.
TIA.

Well you need to reply to proposals clients send you within 24 hours every time (I think), even if you decline them.

Is it only proposals, or any client correspondence?

I certainly haven't got the badge, and I have been here since 2010. I have always responded within 24 hours, but then, I get maybe twelve invitations in one year. So the badge can only apply to those who get dozens of invitations in one week.
😛

Lol, maybe that explains why I can't seem to get my "average response time" of 3 days that is currently showing on my profile to change, despite the fact that I've responded within 12 hours of every message I've received from clients and prospective clients (from proposals that I've submitted) in the last 3 weeks. That's not counting the response time for the two invitations that I received at near the end of August.
Someone on another thread had brought up an interesting theory as to why invitations seem slower for some people. I wonder if having an open contract has anything to do with being publicly displayed on the search results and recommended lists for clients to initiate invites? Odd how I went from being able to receive invites in August, to nothing at all once I've secured an ongoing, open contract. I didn't even think of that until that poster mentioned something about it. Almost makes me tempted to test the theory out, since currently my open contract with my client is sitting inactive until he has more work for me.

Thanks Tasof.
I've had three invitations since coming onto Upwork and have replied to them all within a few hours... per this on my Stats page (below). On client communications I'm even faster:

Hi Steve and others,
The Responsiveness Score is calculated is the freelancer received and replied (accepting or declining) to 10 invitations within last 90 days. Only invitations to apply count in the score. Job offers and communication about an active contract do not. Additionally, if an invitation was withdrawn in less than 24 hour after it was sent and the freelancer didn't reply to it during that time, it will not count.
I hope this information helps.

How was the arbitrary number of 10 derived?
I have always responded in less than 24 hours. I've never met the 10 invitations in 90 days requirement. I suspect it probably has to do with getting hired because ... well, I respond promptly.

Thanks Valeria for the clarification.
Sounds like this is something else that bites the new freelancers (or those with low or no JSS, like myself) in the rear.
Can't raise that score if you don't get any invitations.... and don't get invitations with low or no JSS lol. A nasty circle

Thanks for you heads up but you guys should do something about that 90 days window.. I bet most of the freelancers here (including myself) do agree on the fact that sometimes with big contracts we stick to very few contracts going on hence we do not apply to that many jobs even within 3 months. Even though we do reply within 24 hours each and every time we are likely to never have that badge.

It has nothing to do with jobs you apply to, it is only about the responses to invites you receive unsolicited.

Hi Ahmed,
I can confirm Petra's reply, please refer to this Help article for more information about the nature of this indicator and how the score is calculated.

Yesterday I had finally gotten my response time back to <24 hours after missing a couple of invitations over the holidays. I even got an email from Upwork congratulating me on getting the badge back. Today my response rate is suddenly ❤️ days even though I haven't received any invitations in the past 24 hours. What gives?

I'm pretty sure they also take into account your responses in the message center to existing clients. There is no way I average <24 hours for invites alone. I'm lucky if I get to them in a couple of days.

I never even knew their was a merit badge for this. 😄 And yes, I always respond within 24 hours - on eLance and on Upwork. That is just a part of running your own business.
Jan 27, 2017 09:03:17 AM by Kelly B
The two messages above mine both say this is for unsolicited invitations only, and not responses in the message center.
Jan 27, 2017 09:08:34 AM by Jennifer M
o rly? Then I have no idea how I have <24 hours. At least I think I still do Idk.
I gotta be inspired to talk to people who want their pound of flesh from me.

Hi Kelly,
You can go to My Stats and check the number of invites you've replied to in the last 90 days and how often you reply within a day.
I can also confirm that the Response Time metric is only based on invites. It doesn't count how quickly you reply to messages from your clients.

This metric is meaningless. Invites are 95% spam.
What is the logic behind making this statistic so visible on the freelancer profile if it does not take into account actual client communication, but rather the time it takes us to clean out a spam folder?

I've read some about this on the forum, so I'm not overly concerned. However, I noticed that my response time dropped today. It says that I replied to 1 of 2 invitations. I am so so SO new to all of this. The first invite I got was definitely scammy, so I just declined right away. The second one was legitimate and I replied within a few hours. Other than that, I've not received any other invitations to my knowledge. Any ideas why it dropped or if I should be concerned that I did not see an invitation somewhere along the way? I've somewhat started to ignore my notifications "light" because it seems to come and go as it please. But I have no other notifications when I click on it accept the invite from today.
Thanks!
Michelle

If you always check your proposals tab when you login, you shouldn't miss any invites. The stats don't update immediately. So even if you have responded to everything, you may still show a non-response for several hours.

"The stats don't update immediately. So even if you have responded to everything, you may still show a non-response for several hours. "
I think this is probably what happened because now it says I'm back to 100% in 24 hours. I just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed anything.
Thanks!
Michelle
