"Only accepting Github Portfolio Link, LinkedIn Portfolio Link or else your own name based domain portfolio link"

I see something like this very often lately. Is it against any rule? If not, should there be a rule allowing to flag such a job?

I've never seen this, but I'm not in your line of work. Maybe clients are concerned about freelancers stealing other people's portfolio items, which does happen.

I send clients to my web based portfolio all the time. Why should it be against the rules? I think it is pretty smart actually. Then they know the person applying for the job actually did the work in question.

That's not against the rules. Reading your profile, you should already have your own domain and web site. What you do have to look out for, is if you have a contact link that is not to your oDesk profile.

That's what surprised me, what's the point of hiring on oDesk if you are requiring external portfolio? Are you even going to hire me here, or trying to trick me into working outside?

I had a look at the job itself, and the client seems iffy. New client, not verified, 20ish job postings,0 hires. Demanding language (I WANT YOU TO WORK LONG HOURS AND YOU MUST BE VISIBLE ON SKYPE!) In general, I don't think there would be anything wrong with wanting to see work you'd done on external websites, but yeah, this guy sounds dodgy.

You are right in your comment about the way it reads.
