Is anyone else being slammed by Upwork's tighter bot censurship? My long-term client and I have both had numerous normal non-risk posing messages rejected by the auto bots, stating "Upwork has detected a potential risk with the content of this message." It's been SO bad the past 2 weeks that my client and I can barely speak on the platform.

Yes, but from their perspective your problem is not important right now.
Ethics and respect to the users are currently less important than "keeping them inside". Circumvention attempts are currently on the rise, because of their own actions:
- Remove barriers.
- Everyone become freelancers.
- Monetize the competition.
- Circumvention attempt increases (many proof can be seen in the client forum).
- Ethics, respects, are less important than "keeping them inside".
There are numerous posts about similar problem. and their best solution as far as I can see is to tell you to 'chat inside the message window that has the running contract' instead.
Why don't you and your long term clients just chat outside? Their messaging systems aren't that great anyway.

What you said feels SPOT-ON! Typically, most clients prefer to speak off platform due to the platform's fear based approach which limits our ability to work with clients. It reminds me of how Amazon controls its businesses. However, this particular client is most responsive on the platform. I guess for now, it seems like the only option isn't a real option. Hmph.
